My attending told me the name of this technique, started with a "k"...

He used a pair of forceps to deliver a baby but placed one half of the forceps into the birth canal, and then placed the other half inside the birth canal and then assembled them at the fulcrum after it engaged the temporal head of the child...

He then turned the forceps around back and forth and then pulled the baby out rapidly.

What is this procedure called? Thanks.

I can't remember exactly, but I think he said something like Kielland forceps...or something like that. Can anybody refer me to good reference to read up on this topic? Thanks.

These rotational forceps are called Kjelland forceps. The textbook that any intern should use (in my own opinion) is the William's Obstetrics.
