I'm a pretty strong INTJ. My wife says that means I'm going to have horrible bedside manner. Generally, in public, I try to exude this "Don't speak to me because I don't want to hear what you have to say" vibe, because frankly I don't want anyone to speak to me as I don't want to hear what they have to say. This normally works as I rarely have anyone speak to me without first being spoken to, which is quite a success. Give me the bare minimum chatter needed for functionality, information only please. It's nothing personal, but anything beyond that is just not relevant. Apparently, according to the wife, that means I'll be a horrible doctor because I won't be able to be BFFs with my patients. I care about people, and I know I will care about my patients, but I just don't want to have hour long (or even ten minute long?) heart-to-hearts with them. Is that so wrong??
Same here.
I think that most people simply don't understand that even if you aren't very social, and you don't wear your emotions on your sleeve, you can still care about people and what is happening to them and want to do your best to solve their problems (medical, in this case). It's about solving problems (efficiently), and these emotional, annoying, irrational people just get in the way.
