Hello, I am planning to apply to school of pharmacy and I am wondering what jobs do pharmacists do? Also, I am planning to volunteer at a hospital before applying. What do volunteers in pharmacist stores do?

well, I have seen pharmacists working in pharmacy scores. I see them mixing drugs and packaging them. Some pharmacists direct the pharm. techs and do nothing. Sometimes I see them answering questions from the patient. But is that only what pharmacists do. Is there any more to it? I know my question is kinda vague, but all I am asking is the daily duty of a pharmacist in a typical pharmacy store.

I am also considering volunteering in a pharmacy store. Is the work difficult to accomplish? What do volunteers do in the pharmacy store. I don't think pharmacists will let the volunteers handle the drugs. So what do they do? Answering phone calls, and answering general questions from the patient?

Well, a lot of times you cannot volunteer in a store. Maybe if it's a family-owned store/small business... but never heard of ppl volunteering in Target or RiteAid pharmacies in the cities. Maybe try volunteering in hospital/medical centers... or you could shadow someone from a store, suppose. Some stores employ pharmacy cashier/clerks... so that could also be one way into a store... but HIPPA and privacy stuff might prevent uncertified volunteers behind the counter in a retail pharmacy. Do some research... you'll find so much stuff on Google for opportunities specifically where u live, qualifications, etcetc.
