General What kind copyright trouble could I be in?

Stupidly downloaded textbook for school, needed something to annotate, I was more than willing to buy it but no pdf version was available, I think I will buy it just to atone. I regret it. How would the higher ups at med school react if this got into legal trouble?

It would be a novel things.

However, this is a civil action; you get sued, you don't get arrested and go to jail. Hence, not reportable, unless done via your school and you got sanctioned by them
