Low GPA ~3.5 and hopefully high MCAT

Brief list of ECs:
3 years of red cross including 3 years with leadership with them including over 100 volunteer hours
shadowing for over 40 hours
CPR/AED/FA certified (idk if this matters)
Certified to teach CPR/AED/FA to others
looking into getting EMS basic trained soon
I have a DECENT reason for the low GPA early on which resulted from a medical issue

A discordant gpa/MCAT is among the most difficult to give odds on. It is entirely dependent on the individual who screens you at each institution and whether they buy your explanation. I'll bet sombody will bite in CA but I can't say whom. I don't even know if we will without seeing your ap. Apply early.

Apply broadly and I think a top school will bite on that 42 MCAT and your solid EC's + upward trend GPA (unless your well-performing semesters had a lot of fluff classes).
