I know most are cheesy with the same plot - main guy is smarter than the average student, excels, somehow either leaves or gets kicked-out of school, then makes a triumphant return.

My personal favorite is Vital Signs - about 3rd year students. Whenever I would get in a rut studying, I would watch this movie and for some reason I would get all excited about medicine again. (the fact that Diane Lane is in it doesn't hurt either.)

Anyone have any personal favorites?

When I was studying for the MCATs during the summer of 2000, I would always watch either "Good Will Hunting" or "Apollo 13" before going to sleep...brilliant astronauts and genius mathematicians provided my motivation through flash cards and practice tests :)

I sure wish I thought Organic Chem was as fun and easy as Matt Damon did in that!

Haven't seen "Getting In" yet. Anyone know who's in it? That's not the one about the guy's messed-up MCAT or application is it?

I vote for Patch Adams too. It reminds me of the effect a doctor can have on a patient in terms of the "art of medicine" as well as the "science of medicine"

14. I would have to say Barbed Wire with the superb acting talents of Pamela Anderson( figured w/ all the money that i will be making, i will end up some supermodel, right?

Just to clarify things, i am kidding about the $$$$ and the women.
I cant say that a movie gets me pumped up to be a doc, but I the possibility of knowing everything about the human body fires me up. I think in one of my essays i said the medicine is "intriguing to me", but that sounds to professional for and sdn reply.

"Getting In" stars Andrew McCarthy from about 1993 or something. I ordered it from Amazon.com for about seven bucks. It's about being waitlisted, and one guy is seventh or so on the list, so he goes around offering bribes to the other six to drop out. Meanwhile, someone else starts killing them off. I'm not giving anything away, this is what is on the back cover. It's not great, but any med school movie is worth watching! Enjoy!

Actually, I really like And The Band Played On . Again, it stars Matthew Modine and is very well acted albeit somewhat sensationalized.

Flatlinners- story of medical students examining the boundries of their bodies. J/K. I bet you don't want to have me as a roommate anymore...I agree with Barbed Wire. J/K. P.A.L. is fine but as long as she doesn't open her mouth. Patch Adams is cool. Fight Club-Gets me pumped up. Mullholand Drive- J/K ....by the way if anyone watched that movie and understood it, please fill me in one it. I have the slightest idea of what it was about.
