What of all this traveling business for 3rd and 4th year rotations?

Hi there, this is a question I could probablly ask the school administrators, but maybe you all have a better grasp or opinion on the matter. I will be attending DMU this fall and was wondering if any of you can tell me whether switching locations (states, cities, hospitals etc.) is OPTIONAL or if you are required to move every other month during the 3rd and 4th year clinical rotations. Does it depend on grades whether or not you have a choice? Also, say we do end up relocating every other month for those 2 years...please tell me they help with living arrangements! Haha. I am stoked to begin school but I also like to have the "heads-up!" Thank you in advance.

Take the opportunity during 3rd and 4th years to travel to some of the more distant rotation sites and stay for free (usually).

Go around and see hospitals that otherwise you would not have any exposure to.

You may be pretty suprised at what you will find.

I know several people who had amazing experiences at hospitals they dreaded going to because of location and they end up changing their mind about specialty or find a hospital that they would like to pursue for residency.

Medical school is a journey. Get out and live it to the fullest while you can.
