Personally Id probably go into law if not medicine. I dont know that Id like it that much but the pay would be pretty good at least. There isnt really anything else Id do probably.

I thought about engineering...I was actually a mechanical engineering major before I decided to pursue medicine.

Sadly, not a lot of job openings for those.

Engineer, Teacher, Prof

landscaping
botanical research/agricultural research
freelance writing

Although I continue to maintain an interest in all of the above, my main interest is a particular area of medical research, preferably within an academic setting. I'll find a way to enjoy a fulfilling life, no matter what.

law or sports management (i know far too many baseball stats).

Marine biology, underwater naturalist and marine research. I'm actually currently contemplating these anyway, however.

A high school AP bio teacher. High schoolersare a hoot. :)

firemen...save people's lives and get paid for it (same reason why i love medicine)

pornstar. everyday you get to touch strangers in unusual places (same reason why i want to go into medicine).

Forensic chemist. Was my original plan but then decided medicine. Although, I've been thinking I'd like a PhD in organic chemistry if I don't get in after several tries. Who knows.

I am a Biochemistry/Chemistry Major so if I do not get into medical school my plan is to go into graduate school. My plan is a Ph.D in either Biochemistry, Chemistry, or Pharmacology.

Research, or more rather Biochemistry. As a matter of fact, I still might just do research if I like it enough.

-Ph.D in Anatomy Physiology, Heavy on Professorship and Research

-Podiatric Medicine (Pod Surgeon of course)

-Pys.D Clinical Psychology, Clinical trials and Clinical Treatments for pt's with severe psych disorders

Notice I am in no way giving up on furthering my education, I just can't see myself doing much of ANYTHING with a bachelors let alone in Micro-Bio with a minor in Bio Chem.....;)

I previously worked in public accounting (Ernst & Young). In terms of a company that pays well, has tons of opportunties for advancement, spoils employees, and treats you like gold... I couldn't have asked for more. Although I hated the job, a small part of me will always miss E&Y :)

They definitely are. I subbed last week and one of them told me he'd see me in hell when I made him study. Suffice to say, he wasn't in that day's AP class.

I was a software engineer for 15 years, and now everything about that industry makes me want to hurl. Oh the interminable drudgery and pointlessness of it.

Except one job I heard of this summer. I could be rolling out an open source medical records system in rural health clinics in various parts of Africa. Even if it sucked and failed and I caught Ebola I'd still feel like it was more worthwhile than what I used to do. I'd almost give up med school for it. Almost.

In all honesty, and without trying to sound like a tool... CIA analyst. It's nothing at all like any of the movies but I think it would be a fun desk job, going through things like satellite imagery and transcripts from bugs. I'm really into international affairs and I think I would also enjoy the fact that my reports would get read by the big wigs :)

In the end though, I decided I didn't want to be part of the bureaucracy. If theres a bad president for 8 years I would have no choice but to work to help him in whatever he dictated. So my best friend took that path and I went to medicine. I still like the international politics field a little bit though so I plan to do some work with the CDC or the WHO. I always joke with my aforementioned friend, saying after we both get into our careers maybe our paths will cross in a troubled African country somewhere:laugh:

Autobody Man.... or Car Dealer. Sure did not want to go to college...but it was local, easy to try out, and was not terribly costly. Now here I am...

Doing Emergency Medicine allows me to do it all. We love our 'days off'...

Artist

Philosophy Prof.

Hippie

Or I would find an excuse to move to Africa. :)

High School football coach. I could be like Uncle Rico in Napoleon Dynamite but actually get paid(a little) for it.

Chiropractic

I was almost a cop after college, I wanted to do street patrol. You do a lot of the same things, helping others, protecting their well being, saving lives, blah blah...

medical malpratice law.

then i can take money from the doctors.

Sports broadcasting, news broadcasting, psychology, acting/modeling (if you can call something that high risk a "career"), politics

pornstar. everyday you get to touch strangers in unusual places (same reason why i want to go into medicine).

hmmm. that works. I suppose.

I'd be an insurance sales person...

on the other spectrum of the industry. sorry.

or possibly a banana juggler

I wanted to join the circus in 8th grade...

other than that I have wanted to be a doctor since I was 7- I asked my mom to let me do CPR at a car wreck when I was 3...

there is no other career choice for me but I guess if I didn't get in after 3 years of applying I would do either...

a) go abroad as a missionary- most likely to Africa
b) pursue marine biology- I love the ocean

AND THEN GO BACK AND APPLY AGAIN!

Teacher/professor or maybe occupational therapist.

Music production, architecture, industrial design, automotive design, dentistry, comic book artist to name a few. Initially wanted to be pre-dental but I quickly realized that I do not want to have to worry about establishing my own practice/partnership.

Haven't a clue what it is, but this is the job I want.

Or I can stick with the professor/clinical researcher gig I'm currently doing.

Pharmacy or a PhD in Microbiology and do research. I am also interested in marine biology so maybe some thing to do with that.
If all of the above fail then Journalist. I was in journalism all 4 years of my high school. I know my grammar sucks but I got stuck being a reporter for 2 years then I was the layout editor for the last two years. I wrote maybe like 10 articles in 4 years. :p

Astronomer..

I'm always fascinated about the universe when I was just a child.

But I'm more in love to medicine.

roller coaster tester.

Acrobat. Like the sexy, woorly-twoorly girls in Zumanity in Las Vegas!!!;)

I think I'd open a vietnamese restaraunt called Pho Sho'. Maybe fusion Vietnamese and soul food. Deep fried lemongrass fritters. Yum.

Or a jewelry store called Wrangle a Bangle. Or an construction firm calle Petition an Electrician.

Who knows.

Session bluegrass/rock violinist (plan to do informally!). Chemistry teacher (tried it.) Cognitive science professor (will still go into academic neuroscience, so...) Sushi critic. Nonprofit, like Habitat for Humanity. Professional learner of languages.

physical therapist.
forensic scientist..very CSI:thumbup:
