Was just curious what programs people regard as being strong in international em. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Harvard, Johns Hopkins, and George Washington as far as fellowships are concerned.

If you're talking about international EM during residency, then Yale has a pretty strong international exposure. Nearly all residents do at least a month or two away in some foreign country. We have two residents going to Gambia, another that just returned from Vietnam, and another about to go to Germany. The good thing is that most of these are paid for (airfare, lodging, etc.).

The Johnson & Johnson program at Yale looks really excellent. Do many residents from outside programs get in?

I recall UMass having a pretty strong international program as well.

MCG in Augusta seems to do a ton of international work. Take a look at them.

Take care,.

According to their website, they pick 12-15 every year that aren't at Yale... they also sponsor attendings!

here's the link:

Yea, outsiders are welcome to apply. The deadline for this year has passed unless you are a Yale resident. The deadline was 2/15.

MCG has a fellowship year in International EM, work as an attending 1/2 time and travel the rest. Lots of other trip opportunities as well, all med students/residents/attending are encouraged to participate.
