Hi everyone,
I am applying to medical schools this cycle and would love your input on what my school list should look like.
Background information:
516 MCAT (131, 128, 127, 130)
3.98 cGPA 3.96 sGPA
I am an Ohio resident, and have ties to VA and MN.
I am a reapplicant. I applied ridiculously late in the cycle last year, and I didn't make it past secondaries anywhere.
I applied to Albert Einstein, OSU, PennState, Wayne State, Wright State, Case western, Cincinnati, and Toledo.
I would like to apply to both MD and DO schools this year.
My ECs:
Paid Clinical - Medical scribe for 1 year, ~600 hours
Clinical Volunteering - Occupational therapy, ~110 hours
Shadowing - 1 MD and 1 PA, ~200 hours
Research - volunteered at a lab for a summer, no papers or experiments of my own so I don't know if this even counts, ~75 hours
Student group leadership - 2 asian cultural clubs, ~200-300 hours
Student group leadership - pre-health club that focused on volunteering opportunities, ~60 hours
Sports - lifelong volleyball player, some experience as a coach/captain, ~150 hours coaching
New for this year:
I just got a job as a PCNA, should have 200-300 hours by time of submission.
Also, I have a concern regarding prerequisites - my college degree only required 1 semester of biology, which I satisfied with AP Bio credits (I used AP credits for a lot of things, including BC Calc, Stats, and Psych). Therefore, I never took a general bio class in college. I don't know how in depth you go with making school lists, but I am worried about how my class history will affect where I can apply. I am very willing to take extra classes to make sure I can attend a medical school if I get accepted, but I am not knowledgeable in just how many classes I could feasibly take in time/if there are any limits to this.
If there's any other information I can provide please let me know!
Thank you so much for your time!
