am I the only one who still works out with a Sony Walkman (tape player)??

I'm not buying anything (except clothes, cds and DVDs!) until orientation

I second both of these. my brain works enough trying to learn important stuff. keeping up w/ new technology to listen to music uses brain cells I need.

???!!!! No choice...standard hospital and clinic attire for males is shirt & tie and slacks. The exception is if you are on call or on a surgical rotation when you can wear scrubs.

What is standard clinical attire for females in the third year?

At the risk of sounding too eager to start med school, I want to ask if it's a good idea to buy anything, like texts or microscope, before school starts. I heard that it's good to invest in Netter's Anatomy (which edition is best?) but is there anything else you guys would recommend?

below are some books im looking at on amazon.com (haven't bought any yet so cant recommend beyond the enticing titles) that you may want to check out.

probably these books will do more to calm our nerves than give us a real leg up. the analogous situation that substantiates this suspicion: who actually decided to start shadowing physicians because they read that it was a good thing to do in some book titled (generically) "how to get in to med school"? no one - i hope.

these books are probably going to say all the same things - just like all the "how to get in to med school" books were more or less (more) similar in content. even still i may pick up one (generic) "do well in med school" and one (generic) "choose your specialty" book so i can feel like im being proactive and seriously preparing for the intense times ahead - even though ill be leafing through them at the beach with most of my attention being paid to really cool looking bikinis.

oh yeah, the list:

If you read their marketing ploy, "It's not a damn beanbag."
You should just go to the mall or nearest location so you can sit in one.

still a humongous waste of money. i wouldnt pay more than $20 for one. you'd have to be a fool to pay that $700 for one!
