If you were to work as a Medical Assistant for a surgeon, you help the physician with patient procedures, you enter all of the charges for each patient, you prep the office everyday with patient notes and charts.

This could be classified as which of the following?

- Clinical EXP- In the doctors office working with patients
- Non clinical EXP - Helping out with prep of office and entering charges, progress notes
- Physician shadowing - Obviously following the doctor around to every patient, listening to his advice, watching what he does

Is it all three??? How would you put this on your application?

Can't you just call it clinical. You'll have the opportunity to describe it in some detail.

Edit: Yes, it is clinical. It's alright if there's non-clinical responsibilities in there. Being a medical scribe requires record keeping etc. but you're following the doc and dealing with patients so it's a clinical experience.

Also, what you're doing sounds more involved than shadowing.

both a clinical and a shadowing experience

It is clinical, but since it isn't a volunteer position, you'll have to list it as Employment-Nonmilitary. Name it Medical Assistant in a Surgery Clinic. In the description, make all your duties clear. The shadowing component needs to be evident. The patient interaction should be evident. And the office management componenets should be included.
