Hi folks, anyone know what changes UCSD has made it its curriculum this year? (And yes, this is to help me decide whether to beg for acceptance at UCSD or accept a scholarship at Pitt.)

I know UCSD's first two years are hard-core basic science, and up until now they've been known for having full days of lecture. Then I read somewhere on SDN that they'll be incorporating more small-group time (or something to that effect). How big is the change? Anyone know?

Sorry, I realize that other people have mentioned some of this in other posts, but until the search function is working I can't bring it all together without flipping through dozens of pages.... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />

You should have received this during the interview.. it's called "Updated-Class of 2005 Cirriculum overview 2002-03"

If you can't find it, PM me your email. I can scan it and send it to u.

It's basically a list of courses they teach in each year. One thing that really stands out is that they do Human Anatomy 2nd year while most schools I've seen have it first semester/quarter. (UCSD is quarter system.)

I'm interested in the more info about the increase in small-group time as well. Hopefully it would mean less lecture time.

I don't remember UCSD saying anything about curriculum changes for the upcomming year and UCSD offering anatomy second year is not new.

The only thing I remember was that they no longer have Saturday classes; they were replaced with hospital time.

My interviewer made it clear that thier first two years are intense and grounded heavily in the basic sciences.

i forget all the details. hehe.

i do remember something about grades being changed to pass/fail? mebbe i'm mixing up all the schools.

ah.. heh

during my interview, they said something like the first(first few?) quarter will be pass/fail.

Subsequent quarters will be pass/fail/honors.
