What would (from your opinion/experience) you consider to be a very competitive applicant to a Top 10 medical school?

Thanks in advance and good luck to all applying this year.

PS Please do not post about how rank is not important, thank you.

there are two steps to getting into a top 10 school (gleamed from my fellow classmates at a top 10 school)
1) get decent enough numbers/ paper work to get an interview
2) have a decent enough personality and something interesting enough to have a good interview where you impress your interviewer

the number of apps to one spot is large enough to make the process pretty much an arbitrary one....just apply broadly enough based on your numbers (better numbers means you can be pickier) to be sure that you get enough interviews to ensure you hit it off with atleast one of your interviewers
