Hello guys, I really hate to ask you all this, but, I have to prepare for the worse. I have a decent GPA (3.63) and over 1 yr pharmacy work experience. I currently go to a community college/four year college (this community college just changed to 4 yr college last year, so i dunno what to call it)

I've been wanted to get in FAMU CoP for a while since they don't require PCAT. Althought I think i have a pretty good chance to get in, I still need some back up plan just in case. Here are what i have in mind:

1. If i don't get in their CoP, can I apply their pre-pharmacy program and start over again? (i am not sure i am be able to do that)
2. taking lots of PCAT lessons, such as Kaplan, ect. (i am taking a Kaplan PCAT lesson now. I am not sure how well that gonna work out)

Those just my 2 cents. I want some advice from u guys, espically u done it before. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated!

P.S. this is serious thread, so pls don't say something like "sign up for truck drive class", ect.

Why are you just looking at a school that does not require the PCAT without even having taken the test?

well, FAMU does not require the PCAT, and the only reason I am taking PCAT lesson is in case i get reject by FAMU, i can least apply to other school that does require PCAT. However, FAMU still on the top of my list.

I am not good at taking test and never had any luck on those major test, such as SAT, PCAT, ect.

If I didnt get into a pharmacy school, I was going to go into genetics. After our genetics course and molecular biology course, I fell in love.

Hopefully I will be able to learn some pharmacogenomics where Im going since I did get in.

Cheers!

I think FAMU does require the PCAT if your going the 2+4 year route....If your going the 0+6 route, then they don't require it.

oh? i am kinda confused now. I should be finish up all my pre-requirement classes at spring 2011 since i only have 4 classes left. What u mean by 2+4? and 0+6? I always wanted to know. Thanks!

and btw, what route I am going right now? 0+6?

0+6 is the program that is for high schoolers who directly go into pharmacy school from high school. 2+4 is the program for those who do the pre-requisites for 2 years at least at usually another college and then apply to the pharm.D portion.

It sounds like you're in the 2+4 route.

ah, alright. Thx!
Well, I think FAMU does NOT require PCAT at all.

That creates another question: if a pharmacy school does NOT require PCAT, what else they look for besides GPA?

UH once had a BSPS (Bachelor of Sciences in Pharmaceutical Sciences) program. People who didn't get in for PharmD would continue on the BSPS track and reapply the next year. The program was phased out this year though.

Well, the program had only like 50 people in it tops. And with a base salary of $35-40k for entry-level positions with a BSPS degree, it was a pathetic attempt from UH to attract more people into pharmacy.

Glad it got phased out. They should just offer those BSPS classes as electives.

If I don't get in, I would apply to MPH programs and go the Epidemiology route, specifically with Global/International Health concentration. I'd like to do a dual degree anyway, but if I don't get into pharmacy school, that's the other option.

Sign up for tru...

Damn.

I'm going to step aside for a moment and ask a question. I know there are schools that don't require PCAT scores... but how many of them are there? I'd have to think they'd be the minority. Feels like you'd really be limiting the number of schools you could apply to if you weren't going to take it.

For myself though, seeing as I'm almost done with prereqs and there's really nothing left for me to take, I'm planning on applying to my school's MBA program for the spring term. If I get in this year I may try to squeeze the rest of my classes in over the next 4 years - UAMS offers a joint PharmD/MBA program. If I DON'T get in... well, I'll just keep taking classes and apply again next year. If I STILL don't get in... well, an MBA has to count for something, even these days.

Go back to teaching

Keep working as a tech and apply again. I'd probably also take some classes to bring up my GPA a little more.

Hey Shadow, are you excited? It's almost that time.

I guess I would go into research in a related field...pharmacology perhaps.

Since I am about to get a B.S in ChemE within 2 years, I should start my plan for the next 4-5 years ahead.

My first priority: Phd in BioE

Second priority: medical school

Third priority: Pharmacy school

Last priority (Back-up, sucker's plan): Phd in Chemistry.

Hmm? Almost what? You're throwing me a curveball bro.

Almost time to start pharmacy school.
No hidden messages or anything of the sort.

Oh I'm not, I'm gonna give Peter North a run for his money

But then again men aren't paid nearly as much as what the women get. So maybe not so lucrative for us.

Unless you do gay porn. Most actors receive 1200 per video. I'm certain many actors have done this in order to gain publicity and therefore more options in the mainstream industry.

Ah yeah, got my apt straight, now just waiting on fin.aid. to come through. Hopefully, it's all good to go. Can't wait.

Yeah, if there are any more heh.

I would definitely have sex with Will Smith.

On a more serious note, as if celebrity couples are at all anything like us normal, non mega-rich folks.

I know what you mean. I would probably sleep with him too if the opportunity presented itself.:highfive:

Still, it seems to work out for some people that aren't celebrities. I know of one couple that have an open relationship and so far they have been "happily" married for 7 yrs.

Is it possible to get in their pre-pharmacy program if u don't get in their pharmacy program?
