I'm currently an AEGD-2 resident and had a second seminar on implant placement. What is your experience with learning how to place implants - what kinds of tips helped?

great videos...where are you doing your AEGD? seems like u are getting great experience.

Hi there,

Thanks! I"m at good old Fort Hood, TX. Actually, I was just kicking myself for not getting an ear lobe plastic surgery procedure on video. I didn't have my camera with me!

Cheers

im a dentist from England, UK. I am thinking of doing an AEGD in the US, i wonder if yours accepts international students? Seems like a great programme.

Obviously nothing can compete with experience. I heard the Misch comprehensive course is great, but expensive.

I also had the opportunity to experience the Nobel hands-on seminar as a predoc and didn't find it very helpful. A synthetic mandible in your hand doesn't simulate a clinical situation in the least. I might as well have been screwing a screw into wood.

For the general dentist, implant placement really comes down to case selection in my opinion. I suppose a GP could receive enough training to place implants in just about any situation, but is it really worth it? That's what specialists are for.

Prolly not what you were looking for. I'm also doing an AEGD now and will hopefully have the opportunity to place some straumann implants this year
