ok, I find nothing wrong with d.o.'s, but what's the deal with certain people on this board saying it's just as hard to get into as m.d. programs. These kind of statements only make the d.o. lose credibility. You can give me the line about it being a different type of medicine, but please stop saying it's just as hard to get into. The 10 easiest schools to get into are all d.o.

some of the schools do have remarkably high numbers! like western's avg mcat is a 29 and gpa 3.5ish...that is defnately allo comparable...some of the others have 27ish mcats which arent that far off.

but lets please not start bashing the dos as one day you'll be working with them and will be most likely indistinguishable from them. :)

Yes, but some school has average mcat's of 25. I have this book that lists, in order, how hard each school is to get into and the d.o. schools are all last, with no d.o. school being harder to get into than an allopathic school.

Who says that? My buddy and his wife, both MD's at Brown, say there's no difference between the two and all that really matters is your residency evaluations. For the record, I plan on going Allopathic, and the only difference I see is for some reason DO schools are in crappy locations. Whats with that?

I smell an MD vs DO thread coming on...

Well the thing is d.o. schools require significantly lower numbers and most people who attend didn't do as well in college as people in m.d. schools. I know someone will come along and mention some anecdotal piece about someone going to d.o. school with awesome numbers but the majority of people go to these schools because they weren't qualified to get into allopathic schools.
