I was just placed in the acceptable pool, is this different from wait list? how does each work?

the what pool? what school is this? i've never heard of that, but i'm not known for my admissions decisions knowledge

It depends on the school and what they want to label things as. For example, Georgetown has a "highly select pool" (or something like that) that is unranked, and it is sort of between an acceptance and a waitlist.

well, at UCSD they mentioned an acceptable pool in that they haven't made a decision whether or not you're accepted or waitlisted... Throughout the interview season, people are going to be accepted out of the acceptable pool and in the end those who remain in the pool are on the waitlist? At least that's what i understand...
