How difficult is it getting an internal medicine fellowship in general and in endocrinology?

Internal medicine residencies are going to be competetive at major academic universities. However, generally speaking, internal medicine positions are numerous. Just look at the statistics from NRMP regarding the sheer number.

From some of my friends who are fleas, endocrinology and cardiology are competetive.

Just thought that I'd revive this topic. I was just wondering what you thought about the future endocrinology, will the HMO's cut reimbursements, will there be any problems or does it seem like it will be fine. What about pediatric endocrinology?
