😳 yeah, i wasn't trying to complain about an acceptance.

it's just that it's to a school that i interviewed at quite some time ago, and haven't heard anything from other schools in practically a month - acceptance or rejection.

but i'm definitely happy. i'm sure those of you that haven't heard yet will hear very soon.

I hate to be the one to tell y'all this, but this thread is the biggest pissing match I've seen on SDN. At least the official acceptance/interview threads let people know if there is any movement at the schools they are interested in.

Bragging? It is possible that we are sincerely interested in eachother's progress. Perhaps some of us have gone through this process together and are interested in seeing what happens with our fellow SDN buds. Perhaps some of us are looking for support in knowing that others are also without a great number of interviews and acceptances. Perhaps your perspective assumes a little too much.

Perhaps some of us have gone through this process together and are interested in seeing what happens with our fellow SDN buds. Yeh, your right. There are plenty of braggarts on SDN to be sure. Sometimes I wish I had something substantive to brag about too. Some people can be trollish with their postings, but I think most people who achieve some success are just so excited that they want to shout it from the roof tops. I only posted my progress on here to show that there are still SDNers on here still trying to tread water in this cycle, clinging on to hope for news.

It does get depressing at times, even frustrating, seeing others with so many interviews and acceptances while at the same time feeling within myself that I would make a good doctor too. Just when things start looking down though, another SDN friend will post their story of success that offers inspiration. Or others in the same boat as me will cheer me up and provide encouragement. I prefer to emphasize those types of posts in my mind and more or less disregard the truly bragging ones. Anyway, sorry if I came off as too sarcastic in my previous response. I just like this thread and want to support it.

I just want to share something. I know I'm probably not who you were referring to by the "with like 13 interviews" or something, but I want to share. I agree with Haemulon - I'm posting for others to see what's possible.

Two years ago - I was a finishing college. I had good grades, but extracurricularly: I was in a sorority & had worked 6 months in a med center, had taken the MCAT, but had a below the avg score of accepted applicants.

Now, I retook the MCAT - improved a lot through hard work - spent the last year and then some working to improve my application through work experience, shadowing, volunteering, research. And here I am - accepted to medical school. A place 2 years ago I didn't think was possible. And not only that, to schools I am proud to attend. So, what may seem like "bragging" is really just another story of someone's successes, someone who may have struggled like you or another applicant, who maybe overcame some challenges.

I find the stories behind these numbers to be the most fascinating part....
