Are you talking about the ACCOMAS app? I can't remember for sure, but I think they start taking them in June for next year's class. (?)

I would send it in as early as possible if you are happy with your MCAT scores, grades, etc. I think you have more opportunity to get an interview if the selection committee has your app early.

I sent mine in following the August MCATs last year. It seemed to take a long time to get my confirmation back from ACCOMAS and then receive my letters from the schools wanting the secondary. I figure this is because ACCOMAS becomes bogged down with people like me who wanted to retake the MCAT. In June, they probably aren't as busy, so I would assume they process apps quicker.

I think I completed the ACCOMAS in October (after receiving MCAT scores), received secondary letters in December, and had interviews in January.

I sure rambled on and on. I hope something in this response helps you!

    Good luck!!!!

I submitted my aacomas app around Aug 15 and my first interview was sept 21 at AZCOM. The first round of interviews pretty much started in the last week of september through first couple of weeks of Oct. I probably should have submitted sooner. All's well that ends well.

If you feel confident with your scores and application, I would send them in as soon as possible...I turned mine in the first week of June, the secondary app in August, and didn't hear anything until after the first of the year. Also, many schools are on a rolling admissions basis, which means first come, first served. Once the spots are filled, that's it, they don't wait for all of the apps to be in before deciding who gets an interview. So my advice is to get it turned in. Not only may it increase your chances, but you won't have it hanging over your head :) . Good luck to you!

    suzy q,
I am definitely not advising you to do as I did, but I turned in my application the week of the deadline. I interviewed at UHS on april 26th and got in for this year's class. My advice is..if you have you application complete, the sooner the better.

    Suzy Q,

I turned my AACOMAS application sometime in December 2001. The two schools I applied to (TUCOM & COMP) mailed me their 2ndaries a week after and I mailed it back sometime in January 2002. I received interviews in March 2002 and got accepted to both 2 weeks later. The funny thing is that I didn't even know anything about Osteopathic Medicine until my friend told me about it in November 2002 and bugged me to apply because he is a MSI at COMP. After doing some research on the profession/philosophy I knew that this is my opportunity to become a doctor. Oh.....I forgot to mention that I applied to allopathic schools too. I turned my AMCAS early (June 2002). Recieved 2ndaries (they just want $$$), got rejected by 22 schools but offered an interview by Meharry Medical College in TENN(on waitlist). As you can scores/grades can't be that high because I didn't get into any allopathic schools but did for osteopathic schools even though I applied in December. I'm not saying that it's ok to apply late. You should always apply as early as possible. I just want to keep your hopes up just in case you feel like you turn in your application late. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Send it in as early as possible. I sent mine in around October I think, but didn't get my files completed until the end of January. I got my interviews all in March which is considered fairly late.

The more seats available when you interview, the better your chances of getting in.

Didn't get primary out until October (after Aug. MCAT scores back), secondaries out by the end of Nov., had interviews Dec thru Mar., and had plenty of choices on where I wanted to go to school. Don't panic if you don't get it out ASAP...

I am on the same page as Kat, sent in mid-late oct, secondaries were by end of nov, and interviewed from Dec-March. Plenty of choices, don't sweat it.

I had my primary sent in november and got secondaries in dec. and file completed at all the schools in dec/jan. Interviews feb-march. Although I wouldn't recommend sending things in late ( i had some circumstances), I still got several interviews. So don't fret abut it, just do the best job you can on your apps. Good luck.
