When do you "stop" including grades for your med school app?

What I mean is, say you are a traditional applicant, doing undergrad in 4 years. You apply the fall semester of your senoir year. So, do your fall semester grades go on your app, or do you only include grades from your last semester junoir year (or summer if you did summer school?)

Usually only last semester of junior year, because you (should) submit your amcas app in the Summer.

Yikes, thats a mere 6 semesters. Looks like I will have to enroll in a few summer courses.

Correct. If you take the traditional route to medical school and apply during the summer, you will only have three years to prove yourself to an admissions committee. I recommend taking time off between college and applying because (1) you'll build up your application more and (2) you'll get more experience so that you can sincerely say that you want to practice medicine and not go into another profession.

That right.

Six semesters isnt alot of undergrad to prove yourself. That means you have to know DAY 1 from freshman year that this is what you want to be doing. Of course, this is mostly not the case, as being a freshman myself I can tell you at this age no one truly knows what they want to do for the rest of their life.

So does this mean that no one ever asks to see your senior grades and that you could essentially use that last year as a break before med school?

You are required to send these grades in as soon as you complete the semester.

If your grades are sub-par, the school reserves the right to withdraw your acceptance.

You will not be allowed to matriculate until all of these transcripts are on file with the school.

So, do senior year grades count or not?

First semester of senior year ends in December. If a school makes decisions in March, that's plenty of time for them to consider senior year grades.

If the school accepts you in October, then no, senior grades do not matter. However, as a condition of your acceptance, you will still have to perform well. Like OSUdoc said, you will also have submit your grades at the end of each semester.

ABSOLUTELY

But can they possibly help you get in if you do well?
