When should I take the MCAT?

Just graduated undergrad, took a fifth year. Communications major, with three minors.
Decided before my fourth year to pursue medicine (which is why my GPA isn't great)
sGPA: 3.06 (I think I calculated it correctly)
Fourth year: completed physics, biology
Summer after: Gen Chem
Fifth year: O chem, Mole Gen
This Summer: Biochem

Options: Study this summer right after biochem and take it mid-September or study next fall/winter after I scribe for one year and then take it in Jan/Feb of 2020.

With that GPA I would prolly look into SMP before diving into MCAT prep to see if I could handle a rigorous science curriculum of a MD/DO.

Also, I would look into Podiatry.
