I plan on taking the MCAT in August. Is this not a good idea seeing as how I keep seeing people post threads about applying early and taking the MCAT early. I would like to prepare for it a little more because my upcoming semester is going to be very hectic. Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Just wanted to stress that your gpa is very important, so you don't want to risk damaging your gpa. To that end, you could try really hard and study intensely during the summer, and kill the MCAT the first try. Many have done so. You can then have a high gpa and strong MCAT. The other option is to try for an early July date, then have an early/mid-September date as backup. This could work as well. Plan well and shoot for the moon. That way if you miss, you could still hit the exosphere.
