what is the most recent status on this for step 2CK? I did not go back at old threads because there was change in recommendations, need to knwo what is gonna be right answer. WHO says start at as soon as diagnosed. Older correct answers on practice questions were wait until CD4 < 500 to start HAART

So it is now start as soon as diagnosed?

The standard of care today is to treat essentially all HIV-infected patients with ART (regardless of CD4).

Treatment results in sustained suppression of HIV RNA, improved cellular immunity (ie, CD4 count), reduced HIV-immune activation (eg, proinflammatory cytokines, chronic inflammation, and T-cell activation), and decreased HIV transmission to others.
