I am currently a sophomore in college (starting this Fall). During the last spring semester and most of the summer, I've had medical emergencies, which have forced me to lighten my course load in the fall. I'm majoring in mechanical engineering along, so it would have taken me five years to finish that and premed courses. Now, I think it will take around six. I understand when usual premed students take the MCAT. My question was when would you recommend I take it, since I will be in school longer. And, is that looked upon negatively by medical schools, that I took longer to finish, or took my MCAT at a 'bad' time?
