When to take the USMLE

To anyone who has taken both the COMLEX and USMLE Step 1:
When is a good time to schedule the USMLE? COMLEX is on June 4 & 5 and rotations start on the 24th. Is it better to take it right away, or to wait and practice on paper and risk having to study all over again?
