I submitted my FAFSA and associated paperwork to PSU and Rochester by the third week of Feb. When should I expect financial aid packages? It should be soon ... I think I'll call the financial offices next week to check. Anyone have an idea of when I should expect them?

It really seems to vary by school. I know the SUNYs have started giving them out already, but I know of another school who won't give them out until late-May/early-June.

I imagine that most schools give them out in April. I wish they did this faster so we could make decisions faster!

That's also what I'd heard.

hey orion, could you tell me where you got the associated paperwork for Rochester. I filled out the FAFSA and the Need Access, but don't recall gettng any info about directions for applying. It's entirely possible that I just made an oversight in the mess of all these papers. Is it on the web? Did they send us a piece of mail indicating what to do? Thanks in advance.

Hey, I think you're fine. I don't recall having anything additional for Rochester besides the FAFSA and need access ... sorry if I caused any confusion 🙂

Sort of a different topic but related, are you guys going to rochester second look and why don't you post in the official class of 2010 rochester thread? Otherwise it would appear as if few (potential) UROC 2010 students are on SDN and excited about the school.

👍

most of the schools seem to send them out mid april. i think it's probably based around april 15 since that gives everyone time to file their taxes.

Somewhat related...

I assume that if we get pulled off a waitlist post-May 15th, we have to decide whether to accept the offer (and drop our previous seat) without seeing any financial info, since that school cannot possibly give us financial aid info within the window of time to choose, right?

If you're on a waitlist you should submit your FAFSA to the school now. At least early on, many/most schools will give you some time to decide, and you should be able to receive your aid package within that time.

As it gets closer to the start of classes, you don't have as much time to decide.

So after May 15th, schools would give you your FA package BEFORE you accept a seat off their WL?

I can't say of they should, but I've heard from many that they do. 👍
