Looks like it's you and me so far. And to answer your question, yes I am extremely excited! Hahaha.

And by the way kiddies, I hate all those "official blah blah blah" threads. This is our UCSF 2011 thread.

Excellent choice of avatar, SF. That children's book was classic.

I got into the same schools as you, man (except for USC). I understand the tough decision you have to make. I can't fault you if you don't pick UCSF.

I know, it was and is one of my favorite books. I am struggling with my decision of late, but UCSF is an awesome school so it is hard to go wrong.
Congrats guys!

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I finally got accepted today!!!!! YESS!!!
:D :D :D :D
I'm definitely gonna join you guys this fall!!
soooooooo excited right now, i don't know what to do!!!!

that's great news! :D

good things do happen to those who wait

hello..i'm going to ucsf in the fall too. sorry that i haven't responded sooner. Someone should make a facebook group though like "Pacific Class of 2010" did.

lol, I was gonna...but I couldn't find any good pics to use as our group pic. I'll just make one right now (unless it's already been done), and you guys can add one if you find anything good.

Also, congrats keibee! You can finally stop stressing! And I hope you're not spastic all the time in real life!

P.S. I'm just kidding about that last one there ;)

OMG I AM SO EXCITED!!!!! I got the letter today! UCSF was my first choice from the very beginning of this and i just thought i wouldn't have a chance since im not a california resident. Any other WA residents going there?

Dreams come true!

Congrats to all of the rest of you! See you in the fall =) =)

Hey,
Congrats! The wait is final over!

Whoops! I didn't see the link and I also couldn't find it when I searched. I will delete mine.

Has anyone looked into getting their shots yet? I heard they're expensive.

I'm not sure when you guys start but Pacific starts first part of July.

One of you should message me when you start and we should play a game of dodgeball or ultimate frisbee for rights over the bridge.

I think its about time to bring this thread back up.
Did you guys look for place to live? I dunno where to start...
They gave me this website and info about Mission Bay Housing
but they're hella expensive.

The whole city is hella expensive. There's no way around it. I sure hope the loan money will be enough to cover it all.

personally i would have gone to howard

Congrats everyone!!

See ya all in the fall. Get ready to start cut'n up cadavers the first day of school! (That is, after the obnoxiously long 2 week orientation :D )

Remember, rush Psi Omega!

P.S. someone said sumpn about shots. If you have had the shot before, you only need proof of vacination OR a titer. You can get titers and shots at student health services for a lot less then a doctor/lab. So, if you're cruising out to SF for the summer, drop by and do it there. Also, you only need the first 2 of 3 Hep B shots to start school (The 3 shot set is 6 months long).

Hey, I just noticed that my admission is provisional until they get my
record for the current and spring semester with the deposit. Obviously
I paid my deposit but I'm not taking any class now and in the spring
because i'm working. Did anyone get the notice of final admission?
Can they cancel my acceptance later because i'm not taking any classes
or i happened to miss one of the requirement classes?

keibee, you are fine if you have a degree. Also, I hope you have taken all of the pre-reqs already.

Did anyone already got the final notice of admission?

You have to submit your transcript with degree posted in order to recieve the final admission letter. Also they won't send out final admissions until the class is selected. This is what Carmen said:
"We usually start working on final
admissions once the class is selected and the process finished."

So probably around end of March?

See ya in the Fall!

The reason i'm worring about the pre-req is that on the website, it says
UCSF requires 3 units of biochemistry (cell molecular based). I didn't major
in science when I was in university, so I took all of my science classes at
CC, and as you guys know most of biochemistry classes are upper division.
The one that I took was a course name Molecular Biology and Biochemistry
3 units. Does anybody know if this is can fullfill biochem pre-req? I called
UCSF couple of times and they always say that they don't do any counseling
and I should ask school that I atteneded. So I asked the school and here
is what they said.

If the schools to which you are apply require an upper division
Biochem course or a Biochem course taught within a chemistry
department, this is not the course for you. If all they want is a
general biochem course taught within a bio major's program, this course
should suffice.

What do you guys think??? I'm currenty working right now and out of school.
I don't know what I should do at this point. Am I still safe?

just to be safe, you can take biochemistry 153a at ucla this spring quarter. Spring quarter start on april 5th. you can check out the schedule timing at www.registrar.ucla.edu, go to spring 2007, and go under "chemistry and biochemistry", and then Chem 153a.....The good thing is its only 10 weeks, and C is completely doable. You can tear it up if that's the only class you are taking. You can do this through UCLA extension program. Google UCLA extension, and ask about it.

You should shoot an e-mail to Precilla Bradshaw. She answers questions like that. Also on your secondary you must have listed the biochem course you took on that Pre-requisite check off sheet. I'm pretty sure if they had an issue with it they would have told you but I'd say e-mail Dr. Bradshaw just in case.

keibee, you're starting to scare me. They wouldn't have given out provisional acceptances without knowing that our pre-reqs were met, right? They would know whether we have already completed them, or are intending to complete them right now.

Anyway, I was looking at the pre-reqs again, and I was wondering what exactly bullet point "a" means?

i think you need to take an upper division biochem. just register now.

I just got my notice of final acceptance. Class starts September 17th.

Anyone else got the notice of final acceptance?

Are you for serious? How did you pull that off?

I finished classes abroad back in Nov 2005, graduated March 2006. Been twiddling my thumbs ever since. Oh, officially made and delivered my first temp crown yesterday.....soooooo much fun! Can't wait for dschool!!!!!

age age age age age!

*ahem* Excuse me. I meant to say "bump." I want to see more UCSF people post.

All this talk of BioChem requirements got me scared, so I went online and registered for upper division BioChem for Spring term. On top of that I decided to take Molecular Bio Spring term as well just to be safe. I've already taken Bio-Chem 281, which for my school is a lower division course (and it's metabolic-based not cell molecular-based). Am I worrying too much?

I don't really understand that whole metabolic based and cell molecular based
thing... whats the difference??

I guess the UCSF committee is making its final decisions in the next couple weeks. I really wanna get in!!

The introductory biochem course I took dealt primarily with Krebs cycle, electron transport chain and glycolysis sort of subjects. This sounded "metabolic" to me so I talked with my counselor since UCSF "doesn't offer counseling services." She said that it was definitely metabolic-based and supposedly the upper division course deals primarily with the cell-based aspet of biochem. I'm not really sure what that means cuz I haven't taken it yet, but I definitely don't want to be left in the dust if my counselor is right.

It seems like UCSF has all sorts of extra prerequisites that other schools don't have.

True... I may have to take another biochem class through UC extension.
But I want to make sure first, so I'll wait until March when UCSF sends out
more notice of final admissions. Did anyone got this letter besides SFPredent?

We won't be getting these letters until we have degrees, right? There's no need to be getting anxious, man.

Unrelated, but where the heck are the rest of our classmates? No one is on Facebook and only a couple have posted in here. This makes me sad.

Haha... are you jealous of the UCLA acceptance thread with like 8 pages? haha.... Maybe it's the title of this thread. Maybe people will post more if we get an ****OFFICIAL UCSF ACCEPTANCE THREAD**** going? What do you think?
