I looked for a thread on this topic, but didn't find much. I'm going to Connecticut from Windsor, ON for an interview on Friday Dec. 13. Do you have any suggestions on where to look (on line and otherwise) for flight tickets? Or should I be crazy and drive down there?

Thanks,

C.

P.S. Windsor's close to Detroit, so I can always get the plane from there.

best online place--www.orbitz.com!

Where in CT? If it's UConn, you should probably fly to Hartford/Springfield (a.k.a. Bradley Int'l). If it's Yale, then you could fly to Bradley or to JFK/LaGuardia. Other med schools in CT?

Hmm...Northwest from Detroit might be expensive? From Detroit, try United or American through Chicago for Bradley. Or Delta through Cincy to Bradley. Don't know if USAir through Philly or Pitt to Bradley would give you a decent fare or not.

Try Orbitz or Expedia and airline sites for flying to NY. You have a choice of tons of airlines.

Personally I usually found the best rate by checking >4 sights. In addition to the ones mentioned:

travelocity.com
hotwire.com (only if you are extremely flexible about when you fly, read the rules carefully)
individual airline sites for smaller or discount airlines that aren't on the major travel websites like southwest and jetblue or other regional airlines

Check out travelocity.ca
Or go to Flight Centre...
Sometimes Travelcuts have good rates as well.

Try Southwest Airlines (iflyswa.com).

Testify. If any of you wind up having to triangle-trip between schools (arrggh...), AirTran doesn't penalize you for going one way (airport security, on the other hand, is another story). I flew Raleigh-Philly-Chicago-Raleigh for less than $300.

wow! the one way thing is cool. also, check out council travel/STA./...they do amazing things for students. i'm flying one way to paris for $350. that's a damn good price even for going round trip, let alone one way!

check out www.biddingfortravel.com for priceline tickets. it's really amazing. i've never used it for plane tix, but i've used it for hotels.

basically it's a forum for people to post their results from priceline.
