Ok, I looked on Travelocity.com, and to fly from St. Louis to Pittsburgh is $638. That is absolutely ridiculous. Any suggestions, gang?

Southwest.com

SW is the best/cheapest carrier out there. Usually the meta-search engines dont give you the best fares either. The airlines save those for customers who use their own site.

Is driving or taking a bus an option?

Not if you live in Alaska! 😀 Seriously, though, you're not serious are you? 😉 Obviously it's an option if you're close enough and can spare the time. I flew to NYC and then took Greyhound to Albany and back, which worked out fine.

Jet Blue is another fairly cheap airline option.

Okay here is what you may have to do some times. I was trying to find a cheap ticket (under $400) to go to Philly for my Jefferson interview and searched online almost everywhere. The tickets were like $1,000 😱 because I was leaving on a Tuesday and coming back the next day (you know how it is with classes and all) soooo, I checked with Southwest to fly into BWI and then I can drive to Philly (only about 100 miles) and the ticket was $160.00 hellooo?? much much cheaper. So you may want to check were SW goes from St. Louis and go from there, you may have to rent a car but it can still be a lot cheaper.
