So...

Where did everyone apply for the fall? How many programs did you apply to? Which one is your top choice?

Deadlines are either past, or looming uncomfortably close for most programs...

I'll admit it. I got more than a little freaked out by the process and lost it. I changed from wanting a PhD to wanting a PsyD after my letters had been written and everything. I wound up only applying to two programs. Thankfully I'm well above average for both programs. However, I've resigned myself to the fact that I may have to take a year off.

I applied to Chestnut Hill College and Loyola College. Just the two, and I can't decide which one I'd rather go to. LC has a much better APA placement rate, but CHC says theirs is just low because people don't want to move, and I don't mind that.

Et tu?

how come CUNY? they are one of the least research oriented PhD's out there, and the rest of those programs, especially Yale, are pretty research oriented.

I'm interested in child/adolescent mental health and CUNY has Arietta Slade and Steve Tuber, who both do good work in that area. Definitely maybe a little out of place with the others, but I have professors who went there and were able to get good research experience.

I'm rooting for BU myself.

oh and by the way, I don't think there's any way I can pinpoint a "top choice" yet. There are so many - some are close to home, others have better funding, others are in better locations. I just can't pick one!

I am an undergrad at UW and have been working in a clinical research lab for 2+ years... I know I'm just a lowly undergrad (haha) but I actually know a ton about the program and a lot of the grad students and faculty... so if anyone has questions they think I might be able to help them out with, feel free to PM me :)

Are you guys applying for the adult track or child track?

When do interview invitations begin to go out for most programs? Well after the holidays I assume. Mid January or so?

I'm a little weird since I applied clinical two years ago and I am now applying social-personality. However, since my discipline isn't awesome enough to have a forum like this (and the people around here are so awesome and helpful), I'll stick around for a while.

So here are my schools that are not clinical at all:

Social-Personality Ph.D./Social Ph.D.

University of Missouri-Columbia
University of Rochester
Duke University
Michigan State University
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor
Carnegie Mellon University
SUNY-Buffalo
SUNY-Albany

Good luck everyone!! :luck:

Her lab seems amazing! I applied to work with her as well. Good luck!! (Can we both get in? Because that would be terrific lol)

So we definitely both need to get in, or at least get interviews :) Also, you were correct in guessing that my POI is Bonnie Moradi. So are you interested in LGBT issues as well, or are you focusing on another area? Anyways, good luck!!!

Hey there! seems like we're in a similar boat.. I applied for clinical programs last year but didn't get in, and this year i'm doing social/social-personality/personality programs.. i like to think that my rejections were a blessing in disguise as i found out my true research interests!

The only overlap we have with our school is U of Michigan.. I'm applying to 17 schools total, and most with faculties doing multicultural research.

Good luck!!

Yes, I'm glad I was rejected and took the master's route instead. I'm doing & want to continue my work on goal pursuit (in a broad sense), so I can imagine that we would not have too much overlap in programs.

Good luck to you as well! :luck:
