Where have all the 2007 Applicants gone?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
They're all gearing up for school, moving the likes. They'll be back to lurk summer of MS 1 to freak out about boards then drop off the face of the planet until 4th year. 🙁 Usual cycle of applicants, although some stick around and post ... not many though.

Do not worry, you will get a huge influx of 2008 buddies!

i've been lurking lately (not that i post much anyways, heh). and packing/cleaning for the 'big move.' i am giving away 5 huge trash bags of clothes, 2 bags of shoes and 1 bag of pocketbooks/accessories/etc...so far. 😱 packing and moving sucks!

Seems as though in the last month there has been a mass exodus from SDN of those who applied during the last cycle...

I've noticed the same thing. Lately, it's been mostly 2008 posts about when to send in transcripts, how to get LOR's, and freaking out about already being too late. 🙂 I guess we're supposed to use our vast experience to help them out wherever possible?

Or just let 'em suffer like we did? 😀

You're just now beginning to see why SDN never really changes. Most of last year's group drifts away and new kids come into the cycle and ask the same questions over and over that you did. The people that hang around get tired of answering the same questions and complain about it. The newbies get offeneded. Someone yells about reading the FAQ and using the search function...it's a never-ending-story.

Yet, it can still be a fun place to hang out because you can always fiind people with your same problems and b*tch about them together. Maybe you'll be able to help some people avoid the mistakes you made. In any event, it's good practice for the real world. On SDN you'll meet people you love, hate, or whatever...and learn to deal with it.

how very poetic.... seriously.... well put....

i'm still around!

Still here.... enjoying my last "free" summer for a while. : )

me too...also working overtime trying to earn more money for school🙂

I'm still here too. Gearing up for my 5,000-mile move in a few days. Freaking out here and there. You know.

I guess we're considered washed-up old pre-med hags now

I'm still around, although I've been hanging out in the Osteo and Allo forums lately. Most of the threads in pre-osteo have been very specifc AACOMAS questions, that are better answered by AACOMAS itself. But I still like to put in my .02, if the opportunity presents itself.

Yeah I signed my lease in philly last weekend and visited some PCOM students this past week at the "Financial Aid Workshop". I've pretty much been buying stuff for the apt all summer.

Pretty much just working a full-time "bitch" job for ten bucks an hour to save up for furniture. Haven't saved too much yet though... Only four more weeks of work before I go on vacation and then move in... this summer is FLYING by... 😱

The orientation at PCOM seems as though it's going to be awesome. Anyone else have week-long orientations? It's a full week and on one evening we're going on a cruise through philly 🙂

I wonder if there are any UMDNJ-SOM students on here... seems as though it would be natural to have some sort of PCOM & UMDNJ-SOM party at some point considering that they are the closest DO schools to each other.

Anyway, glad that there are still so many of you guys lurking on here.. I find that I still read the posts a lot but I am posting less and less that I used to.

Sarikate... where are you from originally that the move is going to be 5k miles??

Hey Max...

CCOM has a week long orientation. Most days are from 8am to 5...some days are later. Wine n cheese thing, trip to the art museum, and night out with class of 2010. The schedule is pretty packed, but I can hardly wait.

I feel you. Getting married before school starts helped me and my wife out with "house stuff" and furniture. We've also been saving like mad to pay for the first couple months of rent as well as a moving truck and living expenses. Can't wait for our finaid dispersement.

This is going to be my last week of work, then off to Vegas for a week, a wedding the following week and then off to Des Moines 😀

Right on Max...those "bitch" jobs can teach you a lot!

How's Philly doing? That's my old stomping ground. Lived in Bryn Mawr from '86 to '97 and I'll be going back there at the end of July to visit my parents and hang "down the shore," as they say. It must be hotter than heck. And humid, blech. Where's your apartment?

I've lived in Alaska for the past six years. It's about 2500 miles down to Seattle and then another 2500 down to Phoenix, give or take a couple hundred. Freakin' A!

That week orientation sounds like it could be fun, at least gives a decent length "transition" time. I believe ours is only a couple of days and then the fun starts. At least there are some socials and other little get togethers in the works so we can mingle beforehand.

I wish I could bridge the 4th dimension with the 5th so I could experience life as a CCOMer and a PCOMer for orientation week 🙂 I would have liked to experience Chicago as well.

Animus, I didn't see you at the PCOM Fin Aid Workshop... what happened there?

I'm still here, but mostly just lurking on the Osteo forum these days. Moving to another state took a week out of my life that I'll never get back. Everybody keeps talking about the CCOM orientation packet, but mine is stll lost in the shuffle between old and new houses.

I'm still around. I'm also really really really really board. I have also moved over to the osteopathic threads. 😴😴😴

I am still here.
You can find 2007 applicants in their respective 2011 class threads.

I guess because hte 2007 cycle is over, you won't find much on the pre-DO forums anymore. It's the SDN cycle. They're probably all migrating tot he class threads and the Osteo forums, slowly.

As for me, I've been away for a month traveling through Europe. Now I'm back and I need to find a place to live.

What school will you be attending?

PCOM's orientation doesn't start until mid august AND they give you off on my birthday...jealous!

Be sure to keep visiting if you are going to leave that photo up. 😀

Where have all my SDN buddies gone?

The SDN experience has gotten really boring -- maybe I will eventually stop posting as well. 😱

NYCOM. Me and my roomate checked out some places on Saturday, but none was quite right, one place had no parking on the street or driveway, another place had moldy bathrooms, another cost way more than it was worth. Back to the searching board,

Animus, I didn't see you at the PCOM Fin Aid Workshop... what happened there?

I had to come home this week for a bachelor party and wedding .

Wish I could have made it to the workshop though, as I have absolutely no clue when it comes to fin aid!

Ha, that sounds exactly like how I spent last saturday as well. One was gross, one was too expensive and didn't even include utilities and one had no parking. Luckily, we finally found a nice, affordable place.
