My fiance' and I are planning to take our honeymoon from November 3rd to the 10th. We live in Los Angeles and have decided on these parameters:

Warm, tropical beach. Lots of activities. Not cheesey. Expense is not much of an issue

We're considering all-inclusive resorts such as Cozumel, Mexico and Superclubs in Jamaica. Does anyone have any experiences or suggestions??

I am getting married this fall.

We're looking at Aruba and Fiji.

I've heard bad things about Jamaica, especially off of the resorts. Also, even if a resort shows pictures of a beach, double check that the resort is actually ON the beach. I heard one of the Sandals made guest ride a bus to the beach.

Check out the knot for tons of honeymoon info.

My fiance and I had to push back our wedding for next summer, but we're thinking either Guam or Thailand... I've actually been to both places and I love Thailand especially for its beaches (esp in the South, near Puckhet) and amazing Thai cuisine! But both of them might be a long flight out from LA... Nonetheless, I highly recommend them!

I was just married at the Sandals Royal Bahamian on March 27. It was wonderful. I have been at a few cheesy all-inclusives before, but this resort was spectacular in quality. I did not want to leave.... especially since I had an OB/Gyn rotation waiting for me when I got back! :p
We booked the Royal Windsor Suite, the best one... because after all, it was our weddingmoon! If you book the top level room categories they transport you to/from the airport in a Rolls Royce, there is a personal concierge, there is 24 hr room service included in the room.... If you have any specific questions/concerns, let me know... I could ramble FOREVER :)
As for other tropical locations, check out http://www.tropictravelonline.com for some good info. They have a bulletin board there, as well as lots of pictures and trip reports, mainly of the super-inclusive resorts like Sandals and SuperClubs.

First of all, congrats on the wedding, and money not being much of an issue!!! How fun!!!
Hubby and I went to Puerto Vaillarta for 10 days at an all-inclusive, but we went the all-inclusive route BECAUSE of money...I preferred to pay up front and not have to worry about penny-pinching while we were there.
As far as "lots of activities, but not too cheesy" that is a little harder to come by. Most of the resorts, especially the ones I've heard of in Jamaica who advertise lots of fun activities seem to be ultra cheesy. HOwever, we were really happy with our package broker (Town and Country Tours). They met us at the airport, made sure we got into the "right" taxi to the hotel, and another representative met us at the hotel to make sure check-in went well and to provide us with a list of activities (NOT RELATED TO THE HOTEL) that we could do. This was PERFECT for us. Every other day we went on one of the trips...one was a cruise to a coastal village, complete with diving off the boat to swim with the fish, and my favorite, a full-day horesback riding trip into the jungle. Most of the "cheese" we encountered had to do with the guides on these trips trying desperately to get us to drink...think stupid college drinking games (perhaps they thought it would help their tips?) and the nightly "shows" at the hotel, although, our particular resort catered to middle-aged Europeans, so it fit more with their demographics.
(We chose the hotel, THIS IS NOT A JOKE!!, because the honeymoon fell in the middle of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and it was the only one that guaranteed us it carried ESPN)
Definitely find a travel agent you like who can give you the inside scoop. It you go the Mexico route, try Cancun. It was too expensive for us, but my parents went the same year we did, and it seems to have more class and adventurous day activities like snorkeling and trips to see Mayan ruins.(They ended up using Town and Country Tours and had a similar positive experience)

My wife and I delayed out honeymoonbecause of school, and wee took it a few months lateron a cruise. We really enjoyed it, but there were a lot of people. The food was great. It was nice to get to see a place for a day and then go to a new one. Drinks were expensive. The place that I would recommend though is St Maarten. It is a two-sided island. I hear the French side is lively and has some of the best beaches. The water is clear aqua blue and just georgeous. The shopping was great. It was an awesome place. We plan to go to a resort there for a later anniversary because we were so impressed by it!

Aruba makes for a phenomenal vacation! Beautiful beaches, gorgeous weather, incredible, fresh food and wonderful people. The shopping in the Caribbean (designer stuff, esp watches,) is nothing short of amazing. It is also one of the biggest casino capitals in the world and if you go during Carnival time, it has a wonderful ambiance about it. Also, when I went, it was less commercialized and kind of quiet, so I enjoyed that, compared to resorts like Cancun, which I consider a bit overdone as far as tourism/commercialization goes, so that you don't get a real sense of the culture there.

St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands is also nothing short of spectacular. Again, all the same attractions and absolutely incredible beaches. Ahhh. Looking forward to the day when I can go again soon.

If you have a bit more money to spend, and want great scuba sites, try out some of the smaller resorts off of Venezuela (i.e. Margarita Island, etc.) They are wonderful and have much more culture to offer as well.

I must disagree with what other posters have said about Jamaica.....yes there are some cheesy places, but SuperClubs are not among them. Jamaica is a beautiful place, my hubby and I have been there twice, do an all inclusive with SuperClubs and you won't ever want to leave!!!!!

Congratulations to you!!!!

One more little thing I meant to say about Jamaica....for a honeymoon I would highly recommend Ocho Rios or Negril. Montego Bay is much more touristy and not as intimate. Any of the packages will meet you at the airport and make sure you have a nice trip to your hotel... Have fun wherever you decide to go.

Can you tell me a little more about your Jamaica trip either in this post or email me? We are going there for our 10th anniversary. I was a little worried when someone mentioned there were bad things in Jamaica because we are going there!!! Yikes!!! Please tell me some more good things about it... We cannot wait to go on the 17th of August... Woohoo!!!
