Where would u rank all the IM specialties in order from hardest to least hardest to obtain.

Also how would u rank all of them from best to least best lifestyle.

Lifestyle meaning work to life (leisure activity]

I believe there is data out there with specific numbers, but I am way too lazy (and obviously you are too) to look that up.

GI, cardiology, and heme-onc are all 3 comparable in competitiveness and are more competitive than the rest of the sub specialties. Pulm/CC is likely next. ID, renal, rheum, endocrine, geriatrics/palliatve care are less competitive. Allergy is competitive but much lower numbers of applicants and nobody really knows anything about it except the few people that are interested (I view it as the dermatology of internal medicine).

No matter the sub specialty, getting spots at top institutions is difficult.

Cards and pulm/CC are generally regarded as busier "lifestyles" than the rest but individual practices have significant variability.
