It seems that people who make fun of others are usually wrestling with an internal issue of their own related to that person. Psychology tells us that this is usually for one of two reasons. Reason number one is the person at point represents qualities which the person making fun of the other actually recognizes in themselves, yet cannot deal with successfully emotionally. This internal struggle is manifest as outward aggression and attempt at humiliation of the person who awakens our own self-awareness. The second reason is that the person being made fun of represents something of which we ourselves wish to be, but cannot, and thus we externalize our frustrations once again. Regardless of why, it is still unprofessional to conduct online discussions such as the ones in this post. The discussions would be better served in the elementary school maturity forum. I hope that these posts do not represent the emotional security and ego size of the oral surgeons to whom I will be referring my cases in the future.
