So far I am applying to

I have almost the same stats as you--3.2 ogpa and 3.0sgpa, with 20aa/20ts/20pat (may be retaking dat in august after i contact the schools i'm interested in).

Anyway, just to give you some fodder for thought, here's my school list (17 schools): UConn, UMDNJ, BU, Tufts, NYU, Roseman, Western, Temple, Maryland, Louisville, UoP, USC, Buffalo, Case Western, Detroit Mercy, Pittsburgh, and VCU.

I didn't apply to LECOM because I didn't think I would end up going there if accepted and heard some negative things about it. I thought about applying to UNE, but since I'm not from Maine, VT, or NH, I thought it was a long shot because the school is a public health measure to put more practicing dentists in those regions and I definitely can't really prove I'm going to live there after graduation. I didn't have pre-req classes to apply to Arizona or Midwestern-IL. I don't have West Virginia on there because they are no too OOS friendly--19% of 2011 class (4% OOS interviewed, 33% oos accepted). Other than that, our lists are pretty similar, but I just thought I would take a chance with some schools (Cali schools, Buffalo (b/c state school), Maryland (b/c state school)). Case, Louisville, and Detroit Mercy are probably long shots, but at least they are OOS friendly.

I would recommend adding Roseman because it's a newer school and a couple of the ones I have. Hope that helps and would love to hear what SDN has to say!

@Member8586, I'm missing anatomy and physiology, and Midwestern-IL just happens to be one of the schools that requires it. About LECOM, of course all things I've "heard" are taken with a grain of salt (From SDN and from people), but I've heard not so great things about their DO school and just how the school itself handled its applicants this past year from SDN forums--for example, like waitlisted applicants that were told conflicting information. Since their first class is just starting this summer, I didn't want to apply. I wasn't really feeling the location. There was just a lack of information out there and I didn't want to waste my time/money.

@Panther5, you're totally right--I don't have to practice there in the future. I'm just saying they've already declared a preference to Maine, VT, and NH, and although I'm from New England, I don't think my chances for those 40 spots are good. The impression I got was that it wasn't likely that they would seriously consider me if I haven't shown an interest in northern New England or will in the future.
