Hey everyone,
I'm about to embark on my mcat preparation journey and I wanted to know from all you veterans (or non-veterans) which study aids you guys thought prepared you well for the mcat and which ones were just plain aweful. Thanks for the info!

p.s. I heard mixed reviews about examcrackers so any thoughts on these books would definitely help!!!

I bought the fat Kaplan book, which was recommended to me and worked pretty well. It is widely reported that the Kaplan method for the writing section doesn't work, but I don't know of a single adcom that gives a damn about it. I was told that Barron's contained information that was wrong, but this was several years ago (I took it in 2001), so that might have been corrected.

Isn't there an MCAT forum for this kind of thing?

Examkrackers all the way, baby.

kaplan worked for me too. but i also took hyperlearning the first time i took the mcats, and then second time aorund, i just used my old books from hyperlearning and kaplan books..

examcrakers were great.....they were very informative and to the point. also, i thought the AAMC practice tests were really good.

I liked Kaplan well enough. Do yourself a favor and cut that fat book into the individual subject sections with a pair of scissors, so you don't have to lug around the parts you don't need at the moment.

Kaplan seems pretty cool for me so far...but I've heard that Exam Krackers is highly rated...

Of course, I was lucky enough to get the Kaplan one for free...

Well, I guess either one is good considering what everyone else has said so far.
