what do you mean by 'lower match rate' are you talking about %into top choice or % into top 3 choices, if so, this is not a very good rating of how well a school match. Schools advise their studetns which residencies to apply to, and if you don't get an interview from a top place, you don't rank it. I think NUMS matchlist is MUCH stronger than the other schools you mentioned, even if they don't get as many into their 'top choice.' It's a pretty problematic statistic, which is why actually I hear that the NRMP is not going to release that statistic anymore.
I chose NUMS, good school, great location, matches stronger than anywhere other than vandy on that list.•••••oh ok thanks coop for the clarification....it's just that when I looked at the matching rate...nums was like 70%, Irvine 90% and GWU 85% so go figure...of course, it depends which schools were the top three choices for the applicants...pple at irvine might not be picking cornell and columbia...as opposed to pple at northwestern who might!
but I looked at the list of schools for NUMS were students matched...and there seemed to be very little ivy and UCSF type schools....I dont know
