Does anyone know which fields in medicine tend to have fewer women? I know that surgical subspecialties like ortho and neuro are primarily male dominated but what about others? Also, I know women tend to dominate in derm but are there other fields were women tend to end up more often? What about other fields like psych or rad onc?

Women dominated: OB/Gyn, Peds, Primary care (IM/FP).

Many fewer women than average in neurosurg, ortho, ENT, urology, other surg subspecialties (CT surg, etc.). Mostly due to lifestyle issues (although there are still more now than there used to be in these fields).

Keep in mind that many specialties now have a good mix of females early in their career, but nationwide, have a low percentage of women overall; this will change over time as the old docs (who trained at a time when women physicians were rare) retire.
