Ok, I am in a bit of a dilemma. I applied to both MD and DO schools this year. My goal is most likely to go for a competitive residency like Optho or plastics. I just got accepted to Western U in LA!!! 🙂 And I have an interview next week at Creighton University in Omaha, NE. Would you go for the school with the better match list, and an MD title or the DO school (with a good match list, but not as good) in a cool place like LA??

What's the dilemma? There is no dilemma until AFTER you get accepted to both. Go to the interview.

Sorry if I sound like an a$$hole, but this just seems ridiculous.

Yeah, it does sound ridiculous. Besides LA's not a great place, once you've been there more than a few months. Also keep in mind (IF you get accepted both places), the costs of both schools, the cost of living in each place, and the fact that you're likely to have neither the time nor the spare cash to do all the things that might make LA "a cool place".

DO's have a really tough time matching into competitive residencies like plastics, ortho, eyes etc. Go MD and make life easier on yourself.

Sorry, I prefer not having to chew my air before inhaling.....but the outlying areas are quite nice and you're right, SoCal has nice weather if you like two seasons per year (summer and wildland fire)

haha very true 🙂

No, I just hate LA. I would actually give anything to live in northern CA.....pretty country up there.

It is actually refreshing to see someone so confident that they will get into the schools thay applied to than asking "what are my chances?".

👍

Go to the 2nd interview, get accepted at the 2nd school and then post this again as a new thread.

Everyone else does.

:luck: <---- for you.

Although my first choice is Tufts, I will choose whatever school chooses to choose me, and I will do it very happily.

thanks, for the tips. The reason I am a bit more confident in getting a good result from Creighron is that I was waitlisted last year, and am in the first batch of out of state interviews.

wow, board full of douche bags tonight. original poster: edit your original post and just say you got into both schools.

Hey man if you want plastics, make your life easier and get an MD (plastics is already hard as it is).
