I lived in Texas for 3 years, not going to school, working full time. Thus, I was a Texas resident with a Texas drivers license and Texas plates.

Last june I moved to Iowa and began working full time, attending school half time. I have an Iowa drivers license, and Iowa plates. If I were to move back to Texas now, having been in Iowa fewer than 12 months, would I still be a Texas resident for tuition purposes?

Where did you file taxes last year / this year.

My tax return was split between a job in Texas which I held until june and the one I have now. So technically both, although Texas doesn't have a state income tax.

Bump for anyone who could help? TMDAS hasn't even been able to clear it up for me.

I thought it took more than a year to become a resident for tuition purposes? I don't think your driver's license or plates are relevant.

If I were to move to Iowa now and apply for the 2016-2017 cycle, they would say I am not a resident because I haven't lived there long enough. I would still be a resident of my previous state.

Don't just take my word for it though, you will probably have to do some more research yourself.

Thanks, that was my thought process. I have not officially become a resident of Iowa so by default I should remain a TX resident I am assuming.
