i wrote down in my notes that all deaths must be reported, but not all are investigated. is this correct?

the ones that are investigated are:
1. violent/suspicious deaths
2. sudden deaths
3. when unattendd by doc
4. disease that threaten's public health
5. resulting from employment/injuries while emplyed
6. prisoners while incarcerated
7. people who show evidence of decomposition
8. drug/poison deaths
9/ deaths during theraeutic proceudres
10. if you wish to be cremated.

Probably depends on the state/local gov. rules. Of course not all are investigated.

-Someone who wants to be cremated, why would that be a legal issue?

I'm guessing because in the chance there would need to be an investigation at a future date, the fact that the body was cremated would get in the way of the of the medical examination/autopsy.

exactly. i also read on a website that people who wish to be "thrown to the sea" require an autopsy first. i thought that was kind of interesting. didn't know they still did that
