I would say Goljan, Sattar, and my dad. Yes, in that order.

I would also include my mentors and the people that are in my corner.

To see people that have done what you're trying to do and have found true success...it's been one of the greatest things. Hearing their stories and learning from them has really given me a boost when I needed it.

Edit: Wait wait wait, how could I forget?? All the posters from when I started lurking on this site as a little runt until now. I could name names, but I don't want to embarrass you people, lol. Let's just say, you know who you are haha

Countless musicians...Johnny Hawkins, J. Loren, Maynard Keenan, Joy Williams..

Philosophers...Allen Watts, Carl Jung, Friedrich Nietzsche, Sam Harris, and no matter what you think of the guy, Jordan Peterson...

I of course highly look up to my parents, my wife, and friends as great inspirations for myself as well. They really are the ones who have inspired me to pursue my path to medicine too, providing their wisdom, courage, and encouragement along the way. There’s nothing quite like coming home from the long hours at the library to a spouse who believes and supports you in every way.

My friend , he always said that “sky is the limit”. No one ever believed in me the way he did . My mom one time even told me that I’ll never even graduate college, and I’ll just be a failure :((
My grandma who, with only 3 classes of education read every single book she saw . One of the most hardworking and good people I’ve ever known .
my ex, who always (even to this day) constantly reminds me that I can do ANYTHING I want . (Last convo , for example :I said maybe I am too old to be a surgeon . He asked me : “well,DO you want to be a surgeon? Than you are NOT too old”.).

Peter Tuchman. Man could say more with one facial expression than I could in a novel.

Maybe I'll make a complete reply later.
+1 to this, there’s one quote that has gotten me through a lot dark places in life...whenever things get too heavy and life tries to keep me down i just think to my self..

“LIGHTWEIGHT BABY”

Real talk my parents, friends, and mentors.

Also shout out to some fictional characters, top of the list would be general Iroh as he’s got some top notch quotes.

Looks like someone never watched School House Rock.

Okay okay that’s the last one.

Sir, I'm gonna have to ask you to stop derailing my thread with this grammar crap. Otherwise, Lee, your boss, WILL escort you from this thread, immediately. @Lee? Back me up?

Edward Goljan? Which of the Sattar?

Great! You're out to become a Pathologist?
I had thought Ortho.
Pardon my ignorance.

Haha, no. It's definitely ortho. It's just that, as far as preclinical education goes, these two are the greatest teachers and they're playing a major part in my learning.

Oh, that's good to know.
Also to add, @slowthai, Antonio Webb , Dr Samin Sharma in no particular order, inspires me.

My family doc, who inspired me to become a physician.

My grandmother, who was the first person in her family to get a college degree.

My other grandmother, who started college at 38 after my grandfather had a heart attack, so she could support him through multiple surgeries and decades of progressive heart failure.

My husband and kids, who believe in me when I don’t.

My paternal grandma was a child of dirt poor Irish immigrants in the Depression. She took her hard life and became a wonderful person. She is always there when we need her and has been a tireless source of support for 4 kids, 14 grandkids and 7 great-grandkids. She is my moral role model.

My dad worked three minimum wage jobs while in grad school to give my brother and I a better life than he had.

My mom had bad parents and devoted her 20s to learning to be a better mom than her mom.

My maternal grandma was one of the first female grads of her med school and one of the first residency-trained emergency physicians in the 1970s.

@dpmd who has a beautiful heart. :)

To answer the OP:
My mom, who believed that I could do anything in the world and always wished she could have been in the medical field (only got to 8th grade equivalent where she grew up and after marrying my dad did beauty college because it was a school accessible to her and she wanted to see if she could do it). Somehow she never pushed me towards medicine like some people push kids into the stuff they had wanted and I only found out after I graduated med school that it had been a dream of hers.

My dad who knew that I couldn't actually do anything I wanted so made it clear to me how proud he was I was trying for it but that even if I didn't make it he would love me. He offset the stress I felt about applying to med school.

The doctors I worked with during my journey who showed me what I could achieve
