Who else has Cornell at the top of your list?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
i am OBSESSED with cornell. seriously. Haha my college roommate for all 4 years is an M1 there and we want to live together again and i would do anything to go there.

Yay! I have an interview there in December (so late to accomodate my Mt. Sinai interview) and I am super excited! I've been doing nothing but looking through their website and drooling for about three years. Seriously, I almost wet myself when I found out about that interview!

Now, I only hope to get another interview before December so that I have some practice at this before I go to my dream school!

Cornell is a school I would love to interview at. My brother is an alum and loved his experience there, and while I won't rank schools until I interview b/c you never really know what the experience would be like, it's one of the schools I'd most like to interview with!

Drizz, I definitely think you're right. But something about Cornell- I've been telling people I wanted to go there for three years, no joke. Maybe I'll find something somewhere else that suits me better, but the unique curriculum at Cornell, the location (which I know well after living near for 8 months), the special programs and clinical opportunities...I just can't stop finding things I love!

All other schools are at the same level with me until I interview. And maybe I will change my mind about Cornell after interviewing there, but I like to fantasize right now!

Here's to hoping you get an interview there too!!

Interviewed there last week. Loved it! I don't think I can wait until March. The anticipation may kill me.... :scared:

Good luck to everyone interviewing/hoping to interview there!! :luck:

I wouldn't say it's my dream school (only because of tuition), but its by far my dream location. If, <knock on wood>, I end up getting into cornell as well as my state school, it's going to be a very tough choice.

i work across the street from cornell med school... its tough seeing those med school students knowing i will never be a cornell alum.. my gpa is only a 3.6 and i'm retaking the mcats in april (27 on the first try) .. i dont think i'll have a ten point improvemnt.. BUT goodluck to all of you.

My brother interviewed at a bunch of top schools and said he felt it was the best fit for him, and loved it. I think the more collegial learning environment (especially compared to the OTHER Ivy League school in NYC) and curriculum would make it a great place to study. The location and hospital affiliations, of course, are great as well.

what is the stigma associated with other C in new york city.

What did you find really unique about their curriculum anyways (out of curiosity)? The location is really nice, that whole NYC thing, plus they're really good about helping with your travel if you're going to be in the area. I have my interview next week, so I'll see how the people are over there (thats the most important thing for me), but living in NYC is going to be pricey. Plus, its on East side, and from what I hear thats the nice side, so that cant be cheap. So many NYC schools are so good, but they're all not cheap...

They have a lot of PBL and small group and team learning stuff, much more so than other schools that integrate case based learning into their curriculum. Cornell has apartments for their students that are relatively nice (if not quite as big, or as cheap as the AE ones) and you can live there for all four years. I believe my brother paid $600 or so to share a 2 bdrm. I don't believe I need to tell you how much cheaper that is than a private apartment on the UES...

Cornell subsidizes your housing so rent should be affordable. The Dean told me $450/month but I think that's a tad optimistic 🙄

If not for all the PBL, I think it'd be at the top of my list of OOS schools. Loved my undergrad experience at the Ithaca campus.

If I knew that Cornell would accept me, I wouldn't bother applying to any other school, haha.

The real question is: who doesn't have Cornell on the top of their list?

and the answer is: nobody

*raises hand*

i wouldn't go to cornell even if i were offered admission (which won't happen since i didn't apply). i hate their curriculum, i'm so not a small-group learner and pbl is highly overrated. i applied to schools that have minimal small-group learning. everyone has different ways of studying, and cornell's method is simply not mine.

Reason number 4365 that I love Cornell.

Oh, and PBL would be good for me. I have been in the workforce for a little while and like working on teams. I like self-directed learning, too! But I realize it's not the best for everyone because some people just don't like that stuff.

Good luck to everyone and I hope to see some of you at Cornell with me.

And Drizz, thanks for answering the question about the curriculum because I was away from my computer for a long time and EVERYONE should be informed about what makes Cornell unique!

He may be referring to the price of the dorm that the MS1s live in.
