Can you recommend which study material I need? Their website has tons of different packages of enormous costs. I have a background in biomech/physics and exercise physiology. I may just need to learn a bit more of the nutrition and special fitness testing.

Which resources did you use to study from?

Do you know anyone that has taken it? if so, borrow their material instead of buying. Most everyone I know has or is doing this.

If not, try seeing if you can find some of it at discount online (half.com, amazon, etc).

I heard the symposium is helpful.

I had a question about this too because my exercise phys teacher in grad schools said we could apply for the certifcation while still in school...

from the people that I've known to have gone through it all you need are the essentials of strength training and conditioning textbook along with the exercise technique manual for resistance training. Both of these can be bought off amazon for a great price.

yes we can! if you go to the website
http://www.nsca-cc.org/cscs/about.html

all the information is there. There is lots to read but they do explain how you register while in or out of school.

Make sure you are looking at the "strength training and conditioning" info though for registration, and not the "personal trainer".

I will probably be registering for sometime early in the new year.

As a side note: does anyone know how difficult this exam really is anyway?
