Who is part of a life flight team?

I am interested in becoming a trauma surgeon, how the body handles trauma fascinates me, I was wondering if trauma surgeons were ever part of a life flight team or if they always wait for the patient to arrive at the hospital? Thanks for all answers!

In this region flight crews are made of up some combination of nurse/medic/respiratory therapist. The place I am currently at flies two cross-trained RN/EMT-Ps. Occasionally a resident will be on a flight crew, but they are always an EM resident. Have never seen a trauma surgeon on one of the helos.

Cleveland metro health flies a doc/nurse combo, I believe cincy might also..

Houston flies a paramedic and a nurse who's also a paramedic.

Usually it's a flight nurse and flight medic combo.
