I was curious if I needed a master's degree to get accepted to medical school with an average MCAT score, and less than average gpa. Could those of you who have been accepted this year list what type of degree you obtained? Thanks for your help, because I am not sure if I should go for a master's degree or retake some classes to better my self for medical school.

I was accepted to AZCOM with an overall gpa of 3.5, science gpa of 3.3, MCAT 26. I will graduate this spring with a BS in Exercise Physiology. If you feel like your application is weak, getting a Master's isn't a bad idea. However, remember that getting accepted into med school, especially osteopathic schools, isn't just numbers. There is considerable weight to medical experience, volunteer experience, etc.

no masters here

No masters, just my bachelors. I was accepted at LECOM and MSUCOM.

just a BS in biology..MCAT 26..accepted to AZCOM, NSU-COM, and OSU-COM

no masters, but I am working on mine without being degree seeking since my classes will transfer to my school.

I was accepted to NSUCOM as well as PCOM

Accepted to 4 schools with BS in business.

no Masters here either..just a BS in Biology and History..got into TCOM and anxiously waiting post interview from PCOM which is where i really would like to go...

I got a Bachelor's four years ago, haven't used it since. Took the MCAT five years ago, got a 28, took it last year, got a 25. My gpa was a 3.3 overall with a science gpa of 3.1. I got accepted to UHS and KCOM.

What I am saying is that if the desire is there, anybody can get into medical school. Oh, I have been in the Army the past four years. Good luck.

Ben

Word on the street is that B.S. stands for bulls*** and M.S. stands for more s***. I got into NYCOM, NOVA and Erie with a B.S. coming this May (assuming I can get thru this spring semester...). I wouldnt say it's totally necessary to go the masters route. Good Luck.

I graduated with a B.S. in biology...MCAT-23 and g.p.a. 3.4. I've been accepted to UHS and was put on the waiting list at OSU.
