Do you know when it is?? I want to be there!! Can other people come along with you? I want to bring my BF so I can try to convince him that living in SF would not be the end of the world. And I'd love to meet all of my fellow-potential classmates :D

i think its either 27 or 28th. (April). The website says "weekend", so maybe its either of these days, not sure. they said they'll mail the info in March. Jessica, have you decided where you are going? That would be a tough one for you!! You have an amazing collection of amazing schools that want you!!
Luckily for me, my choice was simple

Thanks lady in red - and congrats again!

I don't have THAT many placed breaking doors down to get to me, but thanks for the compliment.

I am still having a really difficult time between SF and LA... I LOVED SF <img border="0" alt="[Lovey]" title="" src="graemlins/lovey.gif" /> (how could you not develop a thing for that place??) but LA is sooo close to my family, and that is really important to me too. I'm hoping one of them will offer me a sweet financial aid package and that will make the choice esay, but I am afraid that all of that info won't come before May. I almost wish that one of them would have rejected me so I could have my mind made up for me (before anyone thinks I am a total snob, I know how ridiculous that sounds!) I was expecting a rejection fron SF, so getting in was a total shock (one of my interviews didn't go so well.... but enough babbling!)

Look forward to meeting you -and all the other SDN SFers- in April!

I'll see you all there in April

agh.... ladyinred, I WILL BE THERE in april -- that is if i get accepted in the next batch. i live really close to s.f.

otherwise, i will be drowning in my bathtub/sorrow :D

I am definitely going to be there. I called and talked with the office about this a little. They said that most of the events are scheduled for April 27th.

I have a question for you native Californians... I'll be at Stanford's 2nd look (19th/20th) and then UCSF's (27th)... in the week between, I've been planning to backpack a little bit in Yosemite or some of the other parks in the region. Any other suggestions of how to fill up the week between those 2nd look weekends?
Thanks for any advice!

since you have a whole week... i'd go to stanford's thing, then check out san francisco for two days or so -- you know, do the touristy stuff, go nightclubbing, or whatever suits your fancy... then i'd do the drive down along the 101... man, that central coast drive is incredible... you can visit missions, santa barbara, all that stuff on the way. end up at l.a., do disneyland/hollywood or something, keep going down, and check out the incredible beaches in san diego. then fly back to san francisco from san diego... its about $45 one way if you find a good deal

but that's just me ;], of course you want to go backpacking in parks n stuff right? so never mind hehe

definitely hit napa/sonoma for some tasty wines. i could spend days, weeks even, visiting the countless wineries. in addition, i'd check out san francisco quite a bit. lots of good food, clubs, bars, etc..matt had some great suggestions as well.

hey guys. i got the small envelope :(

not even a waitlist. anyways... dunno how i feel right now. obviously, i'm pretty disappointed, but i don't feel totally dumped... guess it hasn't set in yet. just opened the letter 5 minutes ago. welp, i always said i don't know how i could possibly choose between my top choices of ucsf and ucla. now i won't have to... anyways, now i wait for ucla's decision. crap. this sucks...

i sincerely hope everyone that got in and goes to ucsf has a great time. i'm sure you will! just too bad i won't be able to join you -- i'll either be in los angeles or san diego :)

take it easy folks

I'll be there that weekend. I'm looking forward to meeting lady, Wahoo, everyone else who's been accepted, and of course BeckyG and Vader. (Where would we be without them?!) I'm 95% sure at this point that I'll end up at UCSF. The other 5% is if Hopkins gives me a full ride scholarship (and monkey's fly out of my butt). Even if they do, I'm still leaning towards UCSF. It's a better fit for me.

PB

As soon as they accept me (and reaffirm my faith that there is a god) I'll be there.

I live a few blocks away, so I'll probably be there :)

do we need to do anything like sign up?

hey wahoo

if you want to backpack in the bay area there's a lot of good options (many of them closer than yosemite). you might want to check out Big Basin National Park, just north of Santa Cruz. There's about 80 miles of trails -- and you can do the ultra-cool Skyline to the Sea trail in 3-4 days (as short as 20 miles or so, if you want).

I've done a ton of backpacking in the area, so if you have any questions you can email me!

Can't wait to meet you all in April!

Most of the good **** in yosemite is up in Tuolomne Meadows. However, the road to get up there is closed until the snow melts in early May, so that wont work. I agree with figure five that Big Basin would be tight, but also look into Big Sur (by Monterey/Carmel) or Point Reyes (North of SF). Any of those have great backpacking/camping and are away from the snow. If you're into the snowboarding/skiing thing, bring your gear, and check out Kirkwood or Alpine Meadows. Peace and have fun in Cali.

I'll be there on the 27th!

I'm here everyday, and most likely will be there that weekend also.
I'm beginning to despise the lab bench and pipets.

Hey all! Just thought that I would share, if you are planning on coming to SF's 2nd look, Southwest has a special for $34 each way from anywhere in Cali if you book by tomorrow (3/18.)

Is their "accepted students weekend" a one-day thing (on the 27th only)?? I haven't gotten the invitation yet, and I don't want to miss anything by making a reservation to fly home too soon :p

Jessica - I've already told you and I reiterate. You will never convince me to live in SF. I will only continue to date you if you consider SC or UMich :D Bye love, and see ya' around.
