It seems like a lot of schools have been extending their interview seasons this year (I know of two that added a month of interviews) does that mean that med schools as a whole choose too many of the same people to interview and therefore those of us without 4.0s and 45 MCATs are going to get a better chance this year, or is this a normal occurence (you will be my best friend if you say its the former?)

I wonder if it is because people are applying to millions of schools. I think they should just have a giant med school fair (like a job fair-- that all of the applicants are required to attend), where all of the med schools give presentations about their school, students, curriculum, city, financial aid, etc. and then each applicant could choose 10 schools, and only 10, that fit them the best and apply to those. It would speed up the process, since it would cut out all of those people that are applying a school, even though it is their 40th choice and they are just going to withdraw post-interview. If some schools don't get enough applicants then they can choose from the students that get rejected from their top 10.....Just my opinion.

do you think med school should have match like texas/residency?

nevermind, we should have the med school draft 🙂

edit to answer the question: these are adcomms who knows why they do what they do?

My BO is wretched, you insensitive clod.

Methinks you would need to do several of these regionally, at least . . . it would be pretty choatic having about 40k applicants (I'm assuming about 32k apply per year and thus more would come to this meeting without actually filing out a primary, thus 40k) plus the ancillary staff from each school, etc show up in one location, or even one city.
